Busy As A Bee!

I wish I had more time to post these days!  Busy!  Busy!  Busy!  We have been enjoying some fun things these past few weeks!!  I am so proud of my First Graders for all they have accomplished so far!  They surprise me everyday with their improvements in reading and math!

Here are a few things we have done these past couple of weeks to make learning fun!

My students learned about why leaves change colors.  Here are pictures of their tree glyphs!

We also did a leaf observation book.  We wished we had the pretty fall colors here in Southern Arizona but did our best to enjoy what we could from pictures.  This was a great book to use!

As part of our Scott Foresman Reading Street this week, we learned about communities of insects: Honey Bees!  We did a compare and contrast with Ants and Bees.  Then we used the Bee and Ant glyph templates for our writing activity.

Our Word Work and Math Centers were filled with more fun with bees!
Here is a differentiated addition and subtraction game.

I made the flower out of felt fabric and used laminated honeycombs (with felt on the back) with long /ee/ words for the students to use to build the pollen in the middle of the flower.

Check back to see what we are doing with these little guys next week!
